Off sales and pavement licences extended. Plus: TENs update
As anticipated, and previously announced by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick, the impact of these will be to extend the following (which were previously due to expire on 30 September 2021)
- The pavement licence regime through to 30 September 2022
- The automatic authorisation for off sales through to 30 September 2022
For those premises whose current pavement licences expire on 30 September 2021 it remains to be seen how the licensing authorities will deal with any renewal applications but we anticipate, at the present time, that new applications, to extend the current permission beyond 30 September 2021 will be required.
TENs: In addition, there are further relaxations proposed in so far as temporary events notices (TENs) are concerned:
- To increase the number of TENs taking place on a premise, wholly or partly in 2022 or 2023, from 15 to 20
- To increase the number of days on which TENs can take place, per year, occurring on a premise, in 2022 or 2023 from 21 to 26
