Lighting up bowls - Aston Clinton's Bucks Bowls Bash

Aston Clinton Bowls Club, Buckinghamshire, hosted its first session of ‘Bowls Bash’ in June for members and guests, with the added interest of playing after dark.

Nicknamed ‘Twinkle Night’, strips of LED lights marked the rink edges and play commenced as dusk fell and continued until after dark, with players occasionally resorting to torches to locate where to place the jack!

The club is now resuming daylight play of this new format, with Bowls Bash replacing the regular roll-up on the first Tuesday of each month through until September.

The club also participated in the village’s Party in the Park to mark the King’s Coronation by offering Bowls Bash sessions during the afternoon to members of the public.
